Pokémon

About the Project

We created two products for Pokémon: a giveaways extension and an update to the Pokémon Overlay Extension. The giveaways extension is intended to allow them to spin up various giveaways on Twitch to reward viewers and fans who engage with the brand. The Organized Play extension update was intended to provide better information to viewers during streams and TCG competitions, thereby increasing overall engagement.

The  Giveaways   Panel Extension

At Muxy, we had done a couple panel extension giveaways for Pokémon, but this new system allows them to self-publish giveaways with a reasonable amount of flexibility. Viewers are incentivized to watch Pokémon streams for a designated amount of time, claim their reward, and use the reward for anything from in-game goods to store discounts. This simple system grows engagement and creates positive brand engagement. I worked on the UI/UX for the frontend and the publishing system to create a robustly customizable giveaways system.

The  Overlay Extension Update

For this redesign, we wanted to focus on features that help the Twitch audience discover more about the ongoing tournament, discover other live Pokémon channels, and more. This update also added in the card reader which scans the featured card and provides relevant card details.

New UI & News

Overlay Panel Extension Update

We updated the extension to have an evergreen appearance and more modern user experience. Previously, the extension was re-skinned for each tournament's look and feel and had a tabbed interface. The new layout is more open with all accessible content visible at a glace.

In the News panel, we've added additional functionality for a more robust text display.

The Live panel helps viewers with Discovery. Here they can see which other Pokémon channels are currently live.

When brackets go live there is a link to open the brackets. Once the brackets hit the Top 8, viewers can see the live brackets of winners and losers in each match. This gives viewers direct context in-stream for the matches they are watching.

Overlay Panel Extension Update

Missed a play? When a Pokémon Trading Card Game is live, you can see all the cards played under Card History. Hovering over the row will display the card art.

Curious about the card being displayed? We designed and created a card reader that, on hovering over the featured card, displays the card details.
